If I put pure nostalgia aside, Obsession is still deeply sensual, warm spicy oriental fragrance, with great performance and high endurance. Wear it on the skin, treat Obsession as a lover, it still has all the charms to reward you, enchant you and embrace you. For the currently sold version (2015): • Love (and I pray that it stays that way) • longevity: very long lasting (I can still get 12 hours) • silage: moderate, but thickly • weather, time, occasion: Moderately cold to cold. I tried the old and new side by side, so I am not relying on memories from 18 years ago. and it's been reforumlated, a mere thread of its former self.

I am almost sure that younger Fragranticians, or those who missed the opportunity to get acquainted with Obsession at the peak of its popularity will find this version full and really rich. I wear it from deep autumn until the end of the winter. Its a sex bomb, but it can also be as comforting as a chai tea and smells like Christmas. I think it always will be, not because I am sentimental about it, but because it's good. I love it too but the reformulation rather ruined it.

luckily winter lasts about 8 months here) I realized that Tabu most reminded me of Obsession... I'm still from that rural small town, so my purchases are almost always blind buys from ebay. I remember it was my first day of school;first grade to be exact, and I had missed the bus and she volunteered to take me.

but nowadays it is civetone and other synthetic compounds, so enjoy Obsession. However, it grew on me, though not sure yet if I will re-buy it once my current bottle runs out.

If you buy vintage, probably it will be poor civet's musk (the animal had to be killed for the manufacture). When I first sprayed it, I thought I would not like it- the first sniff was a strong, powdery hit that I thought would turn into what I thought of as a "Bank of England" smell (edit: when I first wrote this review I didn't know about the conversations surrounding labeling fragrances that way).

When I was about 11 or 12--tall for my age, and able to wear my mother's tan trench coat in what was probably a hilarious display of attempted sophistication--I strolled into my local mall's department store, making a bee line towards the perfume counter.

My equally awkward friend was examining CK One, which was hugely popular at the time. I was drenched in oriental for several days, trailing it like a truck hauling a huge boat through an adolescent weekend of malls, movies, and pizza joints.

Top notes are green notes, mandarin orange, vanilla, peach, basil, bergamot and lemon; middle notes are spices, coriander, sandalwood, orange blossom, jasmine, oakmoss, cedar and rose; base notes are amber, musk, civet, vanilla, vetiver and incense. i think it can be a good introduction into spicy perfumes. My grandmother wore Opium, red door and this perfume when I was a kid and still kinda does. Interesting reading the reviews saying people wore this in high school and college; hard to imagine the 16-22 year old set rocking this nowadays, to be honest. I have been wearing it since the 90's and it works great with my body chemistry. Just smooooth sweet incense/syrup/vanilla/spices/cinnamon. I also smell something woody and slightly musky, but the vanilla dominates. Amazing for holidays, relaxing at home, winter nights out, dates, and sensual enough for personal moments :) Obsession was the first designer perfume I ever bought for myself. I currently have Four Vintage Bottles of Obsession, 1 being a .25oz of the Pure PARFUM in the Iconic "kidney bean" shaped bottle!! Almost from a Different Time, Like something CLEOPATRA would have bathed in to Seduce All her subjects or Even Further Back in Time...

Obsession by Calvin Klein is a Oriental Spicy fragrance for women. I have had people stop me in malls and various other stores asking me what perfume I am wearing. Spicy, sweet, warm, inviting, sensual and cosy scent. This could easily be the scent hor holidays and christmas! I haven't owned a bottle in years and recently picked one up. The opening is green and mossy and then the spices and smokiness start to develop. Plus 1 EDP and the Other Two SUPER Vintage "Cologne Spray" bottles with the Built In Sprayer... All The Way To EVE herself In The Garden of EDEN scented in the Fruit, Flowers, Incense and Spices of EDEN!Overall, compared to some other marvels (Must de Cartier, yes, I'm seriously pointing at you! Obsession was my signature for 10 years straight,1989 to 1999.), Obsession wasn't harmed that much by reformulation-plague. The new one is a little greener but wait for the first 15 minutes to dissipate and the backbone of the old Obsession is still there and lasts as long and big as in sillage. It was very strong but it was also a comforting scent. Many years later I purchased a small bottle of this for a very reasonable price and upon smelling Obsession thats when I remembered that day.I bought this again a few days ago and I must say I don't understand the complaints about the reforrmulation... I think I wore it because my best friend did, and she wore it because her older sister did. Then I spent many years with NO PERFUME (the horror) and out of the blue I asked for Fantasy for Xmas. ) Fantasy snow-balled into a full on, gourmand obsession... (not always a vintage concentration, but perfumes that have been around forever and smell like a different era) After buying Youth Dew and Tabu (both of which I wrote off and regret now. Hate it, and I hate that many never got to smell the original and call this atrocity wonderful. Unbeatable in sillage and longevity for me, Obsession, I spray on my bathrobe and I can still smell it 2 weeks later, I love the scent, but if you don't...would be very trying....
